The Perfect Brew - Pour Over Edition

Step-by-Step Guide to Brewing Pour Over Coffee at Home
1. Boil Water:
- Heat filtered water to around 93°C.
2. Grind Coffee Beans:
- Weigh out about 25 grams of coffee beans from Fonzie Abbott Coffee Roastery for a standard 12 oz cup.
- Grind the coffee to a medium-fine consistency, similar to coarse sand.
3. Pre-wet the Filter:
- Place the filter in the dripper and rinse it with hot water to remove any paper taste and preheat the brewing vessel.
4. Add Ground Coffee:
- Place the ground coffee into the pre-wet filter and shake gently to level the grounds.
5. Bloom the Coffee:
- Start your timer and pour just enough hot water (about twice the weight of the coffee, so around 50 grams) over the grounds to fully saturate them.
- Let the coffee bloom for 30 seconds as it releases gases.
6. Begin Pouring:
- After the bloom, start pouring the remaining water in a slow, steady spiral motion, starting from the center and moving outward.
- Keep the water level consistent but avoid pouring directly onto the filter walls.
7. Control Pour Rate:
- Aim for a total brew time of 3-4 minutes.
- Adjust your pour rate to maintain a steady flow, pouring in intervals to keep the water level consistent.
8. Remove Dripper and Serve:
- Once the coffee has finished brewing, remove the dripper and discard the used grounds.
- Swirl the brewed coffee gently in the vessel to mix the flavors.
