MINIMUM WAGES ARE UP. HERE'S WHAT WE'RE DOING.

MINIMUM WAGES ARE UP. HERE'S WHAT WE'RE DOING.

Nobody likes putting prices up. We certainly don't.

But from 1 July, hospitality businesses across Australia are navigating another increase in award wages and operating costs. Paying people fairly isn't something we'd ever question, our team is the reason we do what we do. The challenge is finding ways to absorb those increases without making your regular coffee more expensive.

So that's exactly what we set out to do.

Rather than applying a blanket price increase across the menu, we looked at every item individually and asked one question:

Where can we absorb the increase and where do we genuinely need to adjust prices?

The result is that our coffee prices remain unchanged.

Instead, we've made a handful of targeted changes to optional extras and selected food items.

What's changing?

  • Coffee prices: No change

  • Extra shot: 50¢ → $1.00

  • Syrups: 70¢ → 80¢

  • Selected food items: 20¢–$1.00 increase, depending on the item

For most customers, their daily coffee experience won't change at all.

Why take this approach?

We know coffee isn't an occasional purchase for most people. It's part of the daily routine.

By keeping our standard coffee prices where they are, we're able to continue offering value while ensuring our team is paid fairly and the business remains sustainable. Small adjustments to add-ons and selected menu items help balance the increasing cost of doing business without impacting every single order.

For other café owners

If you're reviewing your own pricing, our advice is simple: don't assume everything needs to go up.

Take the time to look through your menu line by line. Extras, modifiers and lower-volume items often provide opportunities to recover increased costs without changing the price of your core offering.

Your regular customers notice when you make thoughtful decisions. They'll also understand that running a hospitality business means adapting to rising wages, supplier costs and everyday operating expenses.

Transparency goes a long way.

We're proud to continue investing in our people while doing everything we can to keep great coffee accessible.

That's a trade-off we're happy to make.
